Our Master Recipe List

Lately, several people have asked me about the dietary changes our family has been making lately. Add to that, questions I often receive about meal planning and I decided to start adding ideas to the blog!

Snacks

You'll notice that we don't really have a lot of snack recipes. That is because we really try to keep fresh organic veggies and raw cheese in the house for snacks. Yogurt, fresh or frozen fruit and granola are favorites as well.

Whole Wheat Graham Crackers: Let me just say these are dangerous to have in our house. So good! I have played around with these a lot and made them thicker bars, longer for Liam to chew better. . .plopped them down as cookies, etc. To make the chocolate version, I use unsweetened cocoa and found that adding 1/4 cup of cocoa worked better for us.

Crispy Cheese Crackers

Breads

100% Whole Wheat Pain de Mie : This is our sandwich bread. We love it!

Hamburger Buns or another style, Whole Wheat Hamburger Buns: One of those ridiculously easy recipes that I feel silly for not having started doing much sooner.

Breakfasts

We eat a ton of eggs - Omelettes, Scrambled, Casserole, Egg "Muffins" - w/ veggies, cheese and sausage/bacon/pork roll.

We love smoothies (sneaking in plenty of greens when we can). We use yogurt, organic fruits & greens, occasional honey to taste. We don't go by a recipe really, just throw in whatever sounds good. :)

Bacon, Cheese, & Egg Biscuit Cups

Peanut Butter Granola: We use almond butter because of allergies. We also replace the butter with coconut oil to allow the granola to last longer. We do NOT typically replace butter in recipes. Butter is good!

Apple-Cinnamon Baked Oatmeal

Amish Baked Oatmeal

Applesauce Bread

Sourdough Muffins: Muffins are great for sneaking in all kinds of goodies.

Scones : These are great for playing around with different fruits in place of chocolate chips - cinnamon & apple, blueberry, raspberry, whatever you can think of. . .

Sourdough Pancakes

Toddler French Toast Sticks

Lunches/Dinners

For lunches, we avoid store-bought lunchmeats (processed meat full of nitrites and other nasty things) and instead purchase uncured bologna and pork loin roll from our co-op. And we always try to have leftovers of some sort.

Our Standbys

Our family loves standards like Spaghetti, Shepherd's Pie, Chili, Meatloaf, Baked Chicken. . .all of which we try to prepare using the standards listed above.

We love making a simple Taco Skillet where I throw together rice, black beans, ground beef, tomatoes, green peppers, onions, chili powder (or organic salsa if it's on hand).

Another favorite, "Lasketti or Spasagna", as one of my adorable youth girls called it. Organic, whole wheat pasta, spaghetti sauce mixed with cream cheese and sprinkled with a favorite Italian cheese and then baked at 350 until the cheese melts and slightly browns.

Chicken Favorites

Homemade Chicken Nuggets

Balsamic Honey Chicken

Chicken & Dumplings

Whole Chicken Crock Pot Recipe

Stretching A Chicken!

Italian/Pasta Favorites

Marinara Sauce

Upside Down Pizza

Cheeseburger Mac : Our family also really likes to add salsa to this for a Taco Mac-version

Garlic Chicken Pasta

Soups/Stews

Desserts

Just like the snacks above, we don't do a lot of prepared desserts around here. The graham crackers in our snacks section make great cookies. :)

"Perfectly Chocolate" Chocolate Cake : This is our go-to birthday cake! I sub coconut oil for the vegetable oil and make our own powdered sugar out of organic evaporated cane sugar

Cream Cheese Frosting

Creamy Pudding

Coming up, I'll be posting some sample weekly menus and how they play into what I am working on for our Master Grocery List. Hope you enjoy!
